Drive time and route tracking#
Drive time is logged separately from work time. The reason is working-hours law: drive time doesn’t count as actual working time, but it does affect pay (in some collective agreements drive-time pay can be e.g. half of the work rate). The split also gives a clean audit trail for yearly working-hours tracking.
Start drive / End drive#
In the task view, below the work buttons, there’s a 🚗 Start drive button.
- Start drive before you set off. If work was running it pauses automatically — the same clock can’t measure both work and driving.
- While driving, the whole button area becomes a single ⏹ End drive button, so you can’t accidentally hit “Done” or “Break” at the wheel.
- End drive on arrival. The drive time saves as its own line (TRV) and the task returns to idle — tap Start work when you begin working.
**Driving shows on the task list.** When you tap Start drive, the task moves to the "Active now" group with a **Driving** badge — even before you've tapped Start work. Starting a drive therefore marks the task as started.
Line memo (e.g. “supplier pick-up”)#
When you tap End drive, a popup opens where you can type an optional memo — for example “pick-up at Onninen Espoo”. The memo goes onto the invoice on its own line together with the date and your name (different memos → different invoice lines).
- Save → the memo is recorded.
- Skip → the drive ends without a memo (the common case).
Automatic kilometres#
If location permission is granted, the PWA takes a GPS fix at both Start drive and End drive and computes the distance driven. A mileage line (KMCOMP) is created automatically and shows in the Allowances section with the date and your name.
On longer drives the app takes an extra point every ~30 min so the computed distance follows the route you actually drove, not the map service’s “straightest” guess.
**Keep the app open and on screen while driving.** A browser-based app can't collect location in the background. The screen stays awake automatically (wake lock) when you mount the phone with the app open. If the phone is locked in your pocket for the whole trip you only get the start and end point — or no kilometres at all.
If location can’t be obtained you immediately see an explanatory message (e.g. “Location permission blocked” or “timed out”). The drive still ends normally — kilometres can be added by hand in the Allowances section.
Only one task at a time#
You can’t be driving (or working) on two tasks at once. If you tap Start drive on another task while one is already active, you get a confirmation dialog: the previous one is paused first.
