Installing the PWA on your phone#
The ELT Field Service app (PWA, Progressive Web App) runs in a browser, but you should install it to your phone’s home screen: it then launches like a normal app, hides the browser’s address bar, and push notifications + background sync work more reliably.
Android (Chrome)#
Adding to the home screen#
- Open
https://mobile.work.elt.systemsin Chrome. - Log in (with credentials from the office — see Login).
- Open Chrome’s three-dot menu (⋮) and pick “Install app” (or “Add to Home screen”).
- Confirm — the icon appears on your home screen as ELT FSM.
- Launch it from there → it looks like a real app, no browser chrome.
Enabling push notifications#
Notifications are not on by default — you activate them once. After that you’ll get a notification each time you’re assigned a task or an assistant-installer request comes in.
- Open the PWA → Settings (top right).
- Find the “Notifications” section → “Enable notifications”.
- Confirm Chrome’s “Allow notifications?” dialog.
- The status turns green: “Notifications enabled on this device”.
iPhone / iPad (Safari)#
**On iPhone, push only works after install.** Unlike Android, iOS 16.4+ requires the PWA to be added to the home screen before push notifications can be enabled. From a regular Safari tab, "Enable notifications" won't work.
Adding to the home screen#
- Open
https://mobile.work.elt.systemsin Safari (not Chrome on iOS). - Tap the Share button (the ↑ symbol in the bottom toolbar).
- Scroll down and pick “Add to Home Screen”.
- Confirm the name “ELT FSM” → “Add”.
- Launch from the home screen — not from Safari anymore.
- Once running as an installed app, enable push: Settings → Notifications → “Enable notifications”.
Receiving updates#
The app auto-updates, but the new version only takes effect after you close and reopen it. To force an update right now:
- Settings → “App version” section at the bottom.
- Tap “Check for updates”.
- If a newer version is found, the app downloads it and reloads automatically. Otherwise it shows “✓ App is up to date”.
Troubleshooting#
Chrome menu has no ‘Install app’ option
Check:
- Did you open **`https://mobile.work.elt.systems`** (HTTPS, not
HTTP)?
- Is Chrome reasonably recent (90+)? Try updating from the Play
Store.
- Some browser variants (Brave, Samsung Internet) name it slightly
differently — look for "Add to home screen".
App shows old version after updating
Force a clean state: **Chrome → Settings → Site settings →
All sites → mobile.work.elt.systems → "Clear & reset"**. Then
reopen the app from the home screen. This **keeps your login**
intact.
Notifications don’t arrive
Check in order:
1. **Settings → Notifications → "Enable"** — is the status green?
2. If you're on **iOS** — is the PWA on the home screen?
(A Safari tab alone is not enough.)
3. **Phone system settings → Notifications → ELT FSM** — allowed
at the OS level?
4. **Do Not Disturb** or Focus mode can block them in some cases.
